What is excessive hair growth?

Excessive hair growth refers to abnormal or excessive hair growth in certain parts of the body. This means that more hair grows than what is normally expected based on age, gender, and ethnic background. Excessive hair growth can occur in both men and women and can affect various areas such as the face, chest, back, legs, arms, or other parts of the body.

Excessive hair growth can be caused by various factors, including genetic predisposition, hormonal changes, certain medical conditions (such as polycystic ovary syndrome), medication, hormonal disorders, or heredity. It can cause both cosmetic and emotional discomfort and can affect a person’s self-confidence.

Laser hair removal at Swiss Allure offers the ideal solution for excessive hair growth.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Laser hair removal is generally not painful, but you may experience a warm sensation during the treatment. The sensation is often described as a warming of the skin, followed by the immediate application of a cool pack. It’s important to note that the tolerance for heat can vary from person to person.

At Swiss Allure, we ensure your comfort during the treatment. If necessary, we can pause at any time to apply more cooling gel. This gel helps reduce the heat and soothes the skin, providing you with a pleasant experience. Our team of professionals is very attentive and ready to listen to your needs and make the necessary adjustments if needed.

We aim to provide you with a relaxing and effective laser hair removal experience, taking care of both optimal results and your comfort. Feel free to discuss your questions or concerns before we begin so that we can ensure you are completely at ease during the treatment.

At Swiss Allure, we combine expertise with care to provide you with the best possible laser hair removal experience. We look forward to welcoming you and helping you achieve your desired results while ensuring your comfort and satisfaction.

Good news! At Swiss Allure, we offer laser hair removal for all skin and hair types. Whether you have light skin with dark hair, darker skin, or even lighter hair, we have advanced laser systems suitable for various hair colors and skin tones.

Our qualified professionals will conduct a thorough assessment during a consultation to determine which laser is most suitable for your unique characteristics. We tailor our treatments to achieve the best results, regardless of your skin and hair type.

Whether you want to treat your legs, arms, bikini line, face, or other parts of the body, laser hair removal can be an effective and long-lasting solution. It’s always advisable to schedule a consultation to discuss your options and clarify expectations.

How old do you have to be for laser hair removal?

The minimum age to be treated at Swiss Allure is 12 years old. Up to the age of 18, a parent or guardian must provide written consent.

In addition to legal reasons for setting an age threshold, there are also physical reasons. In young individuals, the body is still developing, and permanent hair removal may not have the desired effect. During puberty, the body undergoes significant hormonal changes, which can result in new hair growth even after a laser treatment. To avoid disappointment, we recommend starting laser hair removal from the age of 16 onwards.

Can blonde hair be treated with laser hair removal?

While traditional laser hair removal may be less effective in treating blonde hair, there are advanced technologies available that can produce good results even with lighter hair colors. At Swiss Allure, we use innovative laser systems specifically designed to effectively treat blonde hair as well.

Our specialized professionals will conduct a thorough assessment during a consultation to determine if you are a suitable candidate for laser hair removal and which laser is most appropriate for your hair color and skin type. They will carefully tailor the treatment to your individual needs, aiming for optimal results.

Although blonde hair may require more treatments than darker hair types, our advanced lasers can still be effective in reducing hair growth and achieving smooth skin. It’s important to have realistic expectations and understand that results may vary from person to person.

Can laser hair removal be combined with (top) sports?

Yes, laser hair removal can certainly be combined with (top) sports activities. In fact, many athletes choose to undergo laser hair removal due to the benefits it offers, such as reduced hair growth, convenience, and improved performance.

Laser hair removal can help you reduce or even permanently remove unwanted hair on specific areas of your body. This means spending less time and effort on shaving, waxing, or epilating, allowing you more time for your sports activities and training.

Another advantage of laser hair removal is that it helps reduce skin irritation often associated with regular shaving or other hair removal methods, which can be especially beneficial for athletes who experience sweating and friction during sports.

However, it’s important to note that after a laser hair removal treatment, you should wait 24 hours before resuming intense physical activities or sports. This may vary depending on the specific instructions from your provider and the sensitivity of your skin after the treatment.

Can I combine laser hair removal with plastic surgery?

Yes, laser hair removal can often be combined with plastic surgery, depending on the specific type of procedure and the recommendations of your plastic surgeon. Many people choose to undergo laser hair removal as a complement to their plastic surgery procedures to achieve an overall enhancement of their appearance and confidence.

For example, laser hair removal can be used to remove unwanted hair on areas such as the face, armpits, legs, or bikini line before undergoing a plastic surgery procedure. This can result in smoother and more even skin and can make the post-surgery recovery more comfortable.

It’s important to consult with both your plastic surgeon and our laser specialist to determine the best approach. They can advise you on the timing of the laser treatments in relation to your plastic surgery procedure and provide specific post-treatment guidelines for recovery.

What is permanent hair removal?

Permanent hair removal, also known as permanent hair reduction, refers to the reduction or elimination of unwanted hair growth on a long-term or permanent basis. Unlike temporary hair removal methods like shaving, waxing, or plucking, permanent hair removal focuses on destroying the hair follicles, preventing new hair from growing.

One of the most effective methods of permanent hair removal is laser hair removal. Laser hair removal uses concentrated light energy to absorb and heat the pigment in the hair follicles, causing damage to the follicles and reducing hair growth.

While laser hair removal is highly effective in reducing hair growth, it’s important to note that it may not always be 100% permanent. Some new hair may return over time, but it is usually thinner and lighter in color. Periodic maintenance treatments may be necessary to address these new hairs and maintain long-term results.

The number of required sessions varies depending on factors such as hair type, hair color, skin color, and the treated area. Typically, 6 to 8 sessions are needed to achieve the best results.

Which hair and skin types can be treated?

Laser hair removal is suitable for a wide range of skin and hair types, including various colors and textures. Our modern laser systems are developed to be effective for both light and dark skin tones and can address hair growth, regardless of whether the hair is blonde, brown, black, or red.

Regarding skin tone, our modern lasers are equipped with advanced technologies such as cooled heads and adjustable settings, allowing safe treatments on various skin tones. Even individuals with dark or tanned skin can now benefit from laser hair removal without adverse effects.

It is important to note that the results of laser hair removal can vary from person to person, even with the same skin and hair types. Factors such as hair density, thickness, and growth cycle can influence the results. A qualified professional in laser hair removal will assess your skin and hair type and provide you with the best recommendations based on your specific situation.

Before or after the laser treatment

How can I prepare for the laser treatment?

Prior to the first treatment, you will always have an intake conversation. During this conversation, we will inform you about the treatment, what to expect, and give you the opportunity to ask questions about the treatment. It is also possible to have a trial treatment on both armpits. This way, you can experience what it’s like to be treated. Then we will schedule an appointment for the first treatment.

Of course, we will provide you with some advice for preparation. For example, how far in advance of the treatment waxing and plucking of the area to be treated is no longer desired and what else you can do to make the treatment as effective and pleasant as possible.

We also recommend not exposing the treated area to too much sunlight or going to a tanning bed one week before the treatment. We also advise against the use of self-tanning creams. This does not mean that you cannot come into contact with direct sunlight in the treated area, but you should not spend hours in direct sunlight with the area you want to have treated.

On the day before the treatment, we ask you to shave the treated area as smoothly as possible. This allows the laser’s heat to go directly to the hair follicles, making the treatment more effective and less painful. You will feel the heat most on the skin surface, and shaving helps the heat penetrate deeper into the skin.

Can I use makeup for a laser treatment?

For a laser treatment, it is generally better not to wear makeup on the area to be treated. Makeup can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. It is important that the laser energy can be directed directly to the skin to achieve optimal results.

Before your laser treatment, we advise you to thoroughly remove all makeup and skincare products from the area to be treated. This helps ensure that the laser energy can penetrate the hair follicles and achieve the desired results. If you have difficulty removing makeup, we will do it for you.

After the treatment, you can usually apply makeup again, unless advised otherwise by your laser specialist. However, make sure to use products that are gentle on the skin and do not cause irritation.

Can I use deodorant for a laser treatment?

Before a laser treatment, it is generally best not to apply deodorant or antiperspirant to the area to be treated. Deodorant can create a barrier between the skin and the laser, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment.

It is important that the laser energy can be directed directly to the skin to achieve optimal results. Therefore, we recommend removing deodorant or antiperspirant thoroughly before going for your laser treatment. If you have difficulty removing it, we will do it for you.

After the treatment, you can usually use deodorant again, unless advised otherwise by your laser specialist. However, make sure to choose a mild deodorant that does not irritate the skin, especially if the treated skin has become sensitive due to the laser treatment.

Can I shave or wax between treatments?

For laser hair removal, it is recommended not to use methods such as waxing or plucking on the areas to be treated during the treatment course. These methods remove the hair follicles that are the target for the laser treatment. Shaving is allowed in between treatments and up to 1 day before the treatment.

Can I skip a treatment?

It is generally not advisable to skip treatments during a laser hair removal course. The treatment plan is designed to effectively reduce hair growth, and consistency is important. Skipping treatments can reduce the efficiency and ultimate results of the laser treatment.

During the treatment course, the laser treatments are usually scheduled at intervals tailored to the hair growth cycle. Skipping a treatment can result in some hair follicles not being treated at the optimal time, which can delay the desired outcome.

It is important to closely follow the treatment plan and attend all recommended treatments.

What does the skin analysis look like during the intake conversation?

At Swiss Allure, the laser hair removal process starts with a thorough skin analysis during the intake conversation. During this analysis, we closely examine the condition of your skin and discuss your medical history and any skin issues you may have. This allows us to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and skin type.

During the skin analysis, our expert laser specialist will pay attention to factors such as skin color, skin sensitivity, hair type, and hair growth density. This helps us determine the most suitable laser settings and treatment methods to achieve optimal results.

We will also discuss any questions or concerns you may have and explain all the details of the treatment process, including possible side effects and aftercare instructions.

At Swiss Allure, we aim for transparency and open communication. We encourage you to ask all your questions during the intake conversation so that we can ensure you are fully informed and comfortable before starting the laser treatments.

Our goal is to provide you with a professional and personalized experience, focusing on your individual needs and goals.

How soon after the treatments can I see results?

The timeline for seeing results after laser hair removal treatments can vary from person to person. Generally, multiple treatments are needed to achieve the desired results, as laser hair removal is effective in long-term hair reduction.

After each treatment, there may be a gradual reduction in hair growth. Some people may notice a difference after the first few treatments, while for others, the results become more visible gradually after several sessions. It’s important to be patient and go through the full treatment course for optimal results.

The number of treatments required varies per person and depends on various factors, such as hair type, skin color, the area to be treated, and individual response to the treatment. Usually, between 6 and 8 treatments are recommended, with intervals of 4 to 6 weeks.

During a consultation at Swiss Allure, our expert laser specialist will discuss a more specific treatment plan with you, including the expected timeline for results based on your individual situation.

Remember that consistency and following the treatment plan are important for the best results. By being patient and following your laser therapist’s recommendations, you can ultimately enjoy long-term hair reduction and smoother skin.

How much time is there between the laser treatments?

The time between laser treatments usually varies from 4 to 6 weeks. These intervals are designed to ensure that the hair growth cycle is optimally utilized during the treatment.

Hair grows in different phases, including the growth phase, transition phase, and resting phase. Laser treatments are most effective when the hair is in the active growth phase. By scheduling the treatments at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks, we can ensure that as many hair follicles as possible are treated in the active growth phase.

It is important to maintain these intervals between the treatments to achieve the best results. This also gives the skin enough time to recover between the sessions.

During the intake conversation, our laser therapist will discuss a specific treatment plan with you, including the recommended time between the treatments, based on your individual needs and the area to be treated.

It is important to follow the treatment plan meticulously and adhere to the recommended intervals to achieve the best results. If you have any questions about the duration between the treatments, do not hesitate to contact our expert laser specialists.

Can I be in the sun after a laser treatment?

After a laser treatment, it is generally recommended to avoid direct exposure to the sun. The skin can be more sensitive and susceptible to sun damage after the treatment.

The laser treatment can temporarily make the skin more sensitive and may cause redness, irritation, or even blistering. Sun exposure can worsen these side effects and slow down the healing process.

Therefore, it is important to protect the treated skin from the sun for 2 days after the laser treatment. This can be done by wearing protective clothing, using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF, and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Is the treatment suitable for all skin types?

Yes, the treatment is suitable for everyone because we can adjust the laser to any skin type. Thanks to the innovative features of the Diode Ice Laser, we can now also treat darker skin tones. This is because the Diode Ice Laser not only targets pigment but also affects the proteins at the base of the hair follicle. This causes the hair follicle to lose its nourishing properties, preventing new hair growth.

Is the treatment suitable for all hair types/colors?

Yes, in principle, lighter hair can be treated, but there are exceptions. We assess during the intake conversation whether a good result can be achieved with your hair type. Thanks to the innovative features of the Diode Ice Laser, we can now also treat lighter hair. This is because this laser not only works on pigment but also affects the proteins at the base of the hair follicle. This causes the hair follicle to lose its nourishing properties, preventing new hair growth.

Does the treatment hurt?

No. Many people associate “hair removal” with pain. But with the Diode Ice Laser, it is possible to achieve 100% painless hair removal thanks to advanced laser techniques.

From what age can the treatment be done?

Laser treatments are generally suitable for all ages. Keep in mind that in younger individuals, hair growth has just begun, and laser treatment may not be very effective. For individuals under 18 years of age, we require consent from their parents or legal representatives.

Can laser be performed on a sun-tanned skin?

Yes, even sun-tanned skin can be treated with the Diode Ice Laser. This is because this laser technique effectively targets the proteins in the hair follicle and not just the skin pigment. You can be treated at Swiss Allure in any season, including the summer months. However, we recommend avoiding extensive sunbathing or tanning bed use 1 week before and 48 hours after your treatment. Your skin simply needs some time to rest.

Is permanent hair removal really permanent?

In the growth phase, the hair is in direct contact with the hair follicles. A treatment in this phase means that both the hair and the hair follicle are destroyed. These will remain permanently gone! However, hair growth is hormonally determined. This means that when the hormonal balance is disrupted by factors such as pregnancy or medication, the body can activate “dormant hair follicles” from which new hairs could grow. These are new hairs and may grow in the area that has been previously treated. The amount of new hair growth due to hormonal influences will not be comparable to the amount of hair present before the treatment.

Can laser be done during or after pregnancy?

No, Swiss Allure recommends avoiding treatments during or within 6 months after pregnancy because pregnancy hormones can affect the treatment’s results.

Is a laser treatment safe?

Yes. A treatment with the Diode Ice Laser is entirely safe. Unlike other devices, the Diode Ice Laser uses a moving method that ensures the skin is safely and gently heated to a temperature that destroys the hair follicle. The temperature reached by the laser is often experienced as pleasant.

When should laser treatment not be done?

A laser treatment is not recommended if you:

  • Are pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Have epilepsy
  • Have a fever or infection
  • Are taking medication that makes your skin photosensitive
  • Are taking anti-inflammatory medications
  • Have a pacemaker
  • Have piercings, tattoos, or implants in the area to be treated.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about your specific situation. Our laser specialists can provide you with more comprehensive information.

Can you laser a zone with a tattoo?

Please note that it is not recommended to use laser for hair removal on body parts with tattoos. This is because the laser is used on the skin close to the tattoo and can be attracted by the ink, leading to harmful consequences due to excessive heat production. People with tattoos may experience burns, blisters, fading, or even distortion of their body art. If you are willing to take the risk, we will approach the area carefully and avoid any direct interaction with the ink.

What are the costs of laser treatments?

Check our price list. If the body part you want to treat is not listed on the price list, our specialists can help and provide you with personalized advice. Feel free to contact us with any questions, and it’s completely without obligation.

Does Swiss Allure provide a guarantee?

We can guarantee that you will complete the treatment, but it’s important to remember that this doesn’t necessarily mean that all hairs will completely disappear. The results can vary, but we aim to provide you with satisfactory and long-lasting hair reduction. All laser hair removal packages are based on 8 laser hair removal treatments, but most of our customers complete their treatment after 6 to 8 sessions. If you are the exception and still need 9 or 10 sessions, these extra sessions are included in the price. Some hairs can be more stubborn than others. Therefore, after the 10th session, we are happy to work with you to find solutions for those stubborn hairs.

Factors like hormonal influences can affect the results. It’s possible that some people may achieve less satisfactory results than others. No one can guarantee that after completing your treatment, you will never have any hair again. Your body is capable of creating new hair follicles. Unfortunately, there is no way to “laser into the future.”

I have had previous laser treatments elsewhere that were not effective; why would it work with you?

We do not know how treatments were done elsewhere. It could be that the wavelength of our lasers and our treatment method are effective for you. From our experience, we have seen good results for customers who have switched from IPL to our treatment.

I have a lot of skin irritations; can you still do laser treatment?

Even with razor irritations, we can still perform laser treatment. It may be a bit more sensitive when there are many irritations present. However, we do not laser over open wounds; they need to heal first.

Can I continue to remove hair while undergoing a laser treatment plan?

While you are undergoing treatment with us, you should not epilate, wax, or use hair removal creams on the area to be treated, as this has a negative effect on the laser treatment’s results. Shaving is the only method allowed. Before the first treatment, you should not epilate, wax, or use hair removal creams for 4 weeks.

Can I apply makeup immediately after a laser treatment?

YES, you can use makeup after the treatment. This also applies to body lotion, cream, and deodorant. However, wait for 1 week before using tanning products. Our laser specialists will provide you with more information.

Can I cancel an appointment?

If you are unable to make it, we request that you cancel the appointment at least 24 hours before the treatment via the link in your confirmation email, email, or by phone. If you fail to do so, we will be obliged to invoice 40% of the total amount to be paid.

Can I exercise/sweat after a laser treatment?

You can resume your workout on the day of the laser treatment. However, be cautious with hot showers. You can use hot baths and saunas only 24 hours after the laser treatment.
